Carol Young McCurry, age 73, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with her Lord on October 22, 2018 with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Carol was born on March 22, 1945 to the late Octavious and Estella Randolph Young. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Young Rhymer and Barbara Young Walker.

Carol was an avid reader and loved to watch Jeopardy. She loved her neighbors and home cooking, especially a good steak. But above all she loved her family dearly.

Left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Dana McCurry Taylor and one son, Jamie McCurry and his wife Aimee McCurry, former daughter-in-law, Lisa Gardner; three sisters, Diana Lewis, Pam Sisk and Debbie Crawford. Also surviving Carol are one granddaughter, Hannah McCurry and one grandson, Collin Gardner. A funeral service to celebrate Carol’s homegoing will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Terry Roach officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105, Fill Your Bucket List Foundation, Post Office Box 806, Cary, North Carolina 27512 and/or Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, California 90266.
