He battled Leukemia for almost 5 years and fought valiantly through the final end. He graduated from OCC with his Associates in Engineering Science and was 3 courses away from receiving his Bachelor’s in Applied Mathematics from Empire State University.

He was naturally wise and had a true love for learning. Ben played the piano and ukulele, he loved to draw and paint, sing, write silly comics, and study God’s Word. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, figure skating, lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons, umpiring, fishing, hiking and camping in the Adirondacks, performing card magic tricks, and making people smile and laugh with his jokes and pranks.

But above all, he had a heart for God and trusted in God’s perfect plan throughout incredibly difficult circumstances. Ben is survived by his loving parents, Todd and Valerie Carsten, sisters, Christa and Kelli, and brother, Daniel; and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.
