Obituary for Bernice C. Ostendorf DELPHOS – Bernice Ostendorf, 86, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at The Meadows of Kalida. Her Family… She was born August 29, 1931, in Hicksville, Ohio, to the late Herman and Kathryn (Busch) Vetter. On December 30, 1950, she was united in marriage to Walter L. Ostendorf, who passed away on June 13, 2016.

Bernice is survived by her children, Judy (Dave) Shatzer of Dallas, Texas, Dave (Margie) Ostendorf of Delphos, Deb (Jeff) Curry of Columbus, Joanne (Dana) Wieman of Delphos, and Dennis (Sandy) Ostendorf of Rockford, Illinois; a brother, Robert (Pat) Vetter; her grandchildren, Kyle Shatzer, Marc Shatzer, Mandy Risner, Lindy Buzard, Todd Ostendorf, Jennifer Dibert, John Curry, Jessica Salle, Jason Wieman, Melissa Tominack, Kayla Zimpfer, Danielle Ostendorf, Megan Ostendorf, and Rachel Ostendorf; and twenty great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clete and Linus ‘Pete’ Vetter; a sister, Rita Strasser Ansberry. Her Legacy….

Bernice was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed knitting slippers (booties) and baby blankets, sewing, playing bid euchre (Walter claimed she held a 100 aces), cooking and shopping. She was famous for her potato salad, and chicken and dressing.

Bernice treasured time with her family. For over 45 years, many great family memories were made at Myrtle Beach and the lake. Her Farewell Services.

… Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10 with a Parish Wake Service held at 7:30 p.m.; and 1 hour before the time of the service on Wednesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Dear John Michael Foundation. He is Bernice’s 4 ½ year old great-grandson who was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. Checks can be made to Dear John Michael Foundation, P.O. Box 81062, Midland, TX 79708.
