Bert Doty, age 84, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at his home. Bert was born on June 8, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, a son of the late Charles and Evelyn Doty. Bert was a United States Army Veteran who proudly served his country.

He retired from Granite City Steel as a forklift driver after forty plus years of dedicated service. Bert was a dirt track and NASCAR racing fan. He was an excellent woodworker.

He could make any type of crafts out of wood. He sold many of his wood crafts at various craft shows throughout the area. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who he loved dearly.

Bert will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his parents, Bert was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Patricia Faye (Roseman) Doty, who passed away on November 17, 2009; brothers, Jack and Ervin; and by two sisters, Lena and Lola.

He is survived by his loving children, Debra Seka, Rick (Kate) Doty, Steve (Janet) Doty and Pam (Pat) Harper all of Granite City, IL; dear sisters, Lilly and Marie; proud grandfather to Jeremy, Beth, Jessie, Michael, Jennifer, Cole and Stella; proud great-grandfather to Shelby, Macy and River Jane; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL.

Bert will be laid to rest next to Patricia at Fairview Cemetery in Waynesville, IL. Memorial donations may be given to the American Stroke Association. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
