Obituary Service Details Bertha Coney Dickens- Funeral services will be held Saturday September 10, 2016, at 11 am, at St. Andrews AME Church, for Mrs. Bertha Coney Dickens, 90, who departed this life on Saturday, September 3, 2016, after an extended illness, at her residence. Mrs. Dickens was born December 15, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of Eddie and Lillia Pearson Coney. She was a graduate of The Rayen High School in 1943, a member of the church and its Women’s Health Missionary Society, Co-founder of Free Lunch Program for 25 plus years, starting from the Rayen Ave location, to the present site location.

She retired from the lunch program in 2013. She was a lover of her family, grandchildren, and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory; her daughter; Nancy D. Murray, (retired administrator for Youngstown City Schools), a son; Col.

Dwayne A. Dickens (US Army), all of Youngstown, 2 grandchildren; Edward “Joey” (LaToya) Murray of Youngstown, Monica Murray (Carlos) Jones, of Liberty, 6 great-grandchildren; Kiara, Edward Jr., Jaira, Isaiah, Zion, and Elisha, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Julius L. Dickens, a son; Julius E. Dickens, a great-granddaughter; Bre’Ana Murray, 4 brothers; Otis, Marshall, Oris Roy, and Edward Coney, 2 sisters; Alma and Ruby Coney and a son-in-law; Edward Murray. Bertha was the last of the Coney Family.

Friends may call Friday from 3 pm to 6 pm, at F.D. Mason Memorial Funeral Home, Inc., and Saturday from 9 am to 11 am, at the church.
