Betty’s Obituary On Monday, January 21, 2019, Betty Beydler Schoenberger, 91 passed away at her Pensacola home from a long illness. A Memorial Visitation for Betty will be held 5PM to 7PM Monday, January 28, 2019 at Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel, 2276 Airport Blvd. , Pensacola, FL 32504.

Betty was a model of empathy and kindness for her family and friends. Betty met the love of her life, Dutch (Sigmund Bernard Schoenberger), at LSU when he was a pilot in training. They married in the spring of 1947.

The next year they had their first child, Ellen, in late May of 1948. Two more daughters quickly followed, Susan and Nancy. Four years later, the family welcomed two sons in quick succession, Tom and Jack.

Betty’s final child, John, was born in the early ‘60’s. In 1972, a great sadness occurred with the loss 19 year old Tom, in a rainy day car accident. Dutch’s career sent him to lovely places in America: Monterrey and Carmel, CA, upstate New York, the beautiful tree-lined coves in Town Creek, MD, that turned glorious colors in autumn, and a prerevolutionary, war stone-built farm house in Horsham, PA, then to Washington, DC.

After retiring from the Navy, Dutch moved his family to Long Island, where he worked for Grumman, finally retiring for good to Pensacola, FL, a place both Dutch and Betty loved from his early piloting days. Betty lived a full life as a reful Navy wife and a loving mother of six. Betty was the grandmother of Joshua and Christopher Day, Elizabeth Ghandakly, and the great-grandmother of James Day.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dutch Schoenberger; son, Tom Schoenberger; parents, Frances Milroy “Roy” and Edna McDermott Beydler; brother, Milroy Joseph “Sonny” Beydler. She is survived by her children, Ellen Day, Susan Ghandakly, Nancy Schoenberger, Jack Schoenberger and John Schoenberger; grandchildren, Joshua and Christopher Day, Elizabeth Ghandakly and great grandson, James Day. Since Betty always enjoyed sunsets and her gardens, a floral goodbye would be a lovely way of honoring her.

The Schoenberger family would like to send a heartfelt appreciation to Home Health Provider, Ashley Glova. With our family so scattered, we are so grateful for her in selecting family photos for the slideshow. Thanks also for all of your special kindness and loving care for Betty.
