Betty Francis Hostetler, age 87 of Ravenna Ohio peacefully passed into heaven Thursday, January 3, 2019. Betty was born May 10, 1931 in Olean, NY to parents Cologio (Sicilian) and Ailyne Cali. In 1940, her parents moved the family to Sacremento, California.

On March 20, 1954 Betty married Air Force Serviceman James H. Hostetler Sr. and then moved to Ravenna OH where she spent her entire remaining life. Her husband, James Sr. died November 24, 2000. Betty and Jim had 7 children.

Mike (Beth) Hostetler, James Jr.(Myla, deceased) Hostetler, Charles (Diane) Hostetler, Ailyne (Dave) Almashy, John Hostetler (James Leach), Debbie (Gilbert) Binegar and Stephen (Brandi) Hostetler. Betty was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She helped raise 11 grandchildren; Adam, Anna, James, Lisa, Donald, Charles II (deceased), Rachel, Andrea, Monica, Patrick and Andrew.

She has 12 great grandchildren. She loved animals and will be greatly missed by her dog Penny. Betty was a devoted Christian who attended church her entire life.

She was an active member of the Charlestown United Methodist Church. She also served as an Election Official. Betty is survived by her brother Charles and sisters Beverly, Ramona and Rosemary of Sacremento, CA.

Betty is preceded in death by her brother Earl Dame, sister Myrtle Delgado, and grandson Charles Hostetler II. Calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 PM Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Charlestown United Methodist Church, 6408 Rock Spring Road in Ravenna. Pastor Greg Hogan will officiate.

Burial will immediately follow at the Charlestown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Betty would prefer donations be made to Rosie’s Animal Rescue, PO Box 33, Rootstown OH 44272. Arrangements have bveen entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
