BETTY J. CALHOUN Betty J. Calhoun was born July 30, 1936 to Hosea and Katie Calhoun. Betty departed from this life on Thursday, October 11, 2018. Betty was preceded in death by both parents Kaite and Hosea Calhoun; two brothers, Leon and Hosea Calhoun; Three sisters, Bernice Mason, Addilee Todd and Catherine Branston.

Betty attended Dunbar Elementary and was a graduate of Sumner High School, Class of 1955. In high school she took-up Cosmetology and received her license for cosmetology. Betty attended Nursing school and worked at the Kansas University Medical Center as an L.P.N. in the Cancer Unit where she retired.

She was a single parent to one Angela M. Bennett-Thomas and she has one grandson Demetrie L. Thomas. Betty was a lifelong member of Metropolitan Baptist Temple. As an adult she was on the Nursing Unit.

She leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Angela Bennett-Thomas; grandson Demetrie Leon Thomas, a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday October 20, 2018 at Metropolitan Baptist Temple 853 Washington Blvd. Kansas City, Kansas 66101.

Visitation 9:00 a.m. Interment Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
