Betty Jean Ashbaugh Cook, 78, of Bardstown, passed away Saturday September 1, 2018 at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was born April 6, 1940 in Highgrove, retired children’s librarian for Nelson County Public Library, and nursery teacher and member of New Salem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Cook; and parents, Eugene and Bessie Ashbaugh.

She is survived by her son, Billy Mark Cook of Bardstown; two daughters, Holly Fields (Don) Ethington of Bowling Green, and Tina Clark of Bardstown; five grandchildren, Barry Fields, Michael Fields, Maggie Fields, Elle Clark, and Vaughan Clark; sister, Patsy Greenwell of Bardstown; cousin, Charles Lee Stump; and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be 11:00 am Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in New Salem Baptist Cemetery. Her grandson, Brother Barry Fields will officiate.

Visitation will be 1 – 8 pm Tuesday September 4 and 9 – 11 am Wednesday September 5 at Barlow Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to WHAS Crusade for Children.
