Betty Lou (Hazel) Erickson, age 83, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019. Betty was born in the Lake Odessa Hospital on April 15, 1935, to Lee and Ida Elnora (Lucas) Hazel. Family meant everything to Betty; she would do anything for her family.

She was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and sister (in-law). Betty is survived by her daughters, Cheryl (Harold) Jackson, Cindy (Paul) Klifman, and Christy Erickson; grandchildren David Jackson, Gary Jackson, Josh Kifman, Gresha (Devin) Eberly, and Jenna (Tommy) Allen; great grandchildren Aden DeGraaf, Walker Klifman, Steehl, Reign and Pheenyx Eberly, and Thomas and Leonard Allen; brothers Richard (Delores) Hazel and Lee Junior (Roxie) Hazel; brothers-in-laws John (Lucille) Erickson, Harry Erickson, and Alvin Erickson; sister-in-law Esther Erickson, good friend John Whitham and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, great-grandson Austin DeGraaf, brothers-in-laws Paul Erickson and Norman Erickson and sisters-in-law Pat Erickson and Helen McCaul.

Per Betty’s wishes, a private graveside service for family and friends will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 10:00 AM at the Lakeside Cemetery with a celebration of life gathering at the VFW Hall in Lake Odessa from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lake Odessa Fire Department, 1050 First Street, Lake Odessa, MI 48849, or the VFW Post #4461 Ladies Auxiliary, 3600 W. Tupper Lake Road, Lake Odessa, MI 48849. Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa.
