Betty’s Obituary Betty Lee Dreesman, age 77, of, Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Albert and Anna (Schrage) Garbes on August 15, 1941 in Waverly. Betty attended and graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School. On July 3, 1960, Betty was united in marriage with Eugene Dreesman at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville.

After their marriage the couple resided in for a short time in Waverly, Clarksville and Algona, then moving back to Clarksville where they resided the majority of their married life. Eugene and Betty owned and operated Dreesman’s Café in Plainfield for ten years. Betty then worked in Environmental Services at Wartburg, College in Waverly, Iowa.

Betty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Betty enjoyed raising a large garden and canning the produce. She loved to cook and go dancing with Eugene.

Betty’s greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. On Sunday, March 17, 2019, Betty died at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville. Betty is preceded in death by a son, Rodney; her parents; and two sisters, JoAnn Sherburne and Marlys Beekel.

Betty is survived by her husband of 58 years, Eugene of Clarksville; two sons, Rick (Julie) Dreesman of Kansas City, Missouri, and Todd (Marsha) Dreesman of Clarksville; one daughter, Kim (Brock) Lodge of Clarksville; one daughter-in-law, Lisa Dreesman of Carroll, Iowa; ten grandchildren, Luke, Nolan, Brodee, Spencer, Steven, Jill, Melinda, Scott, Jackson and Pacen; four great grandchildren, Claire, Catelynn, Wyland and Mylah; two brothers, Robert (Miriam) Garbes of Shell Rock, Iowa, and Richard (Karen) Garbes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and two sisters, DeeAnna Jenison of Raymond, Iowa, and Carol (Roger) Steinkraus of Waterloo. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2019, at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, and one hour before services at the church.
