Betty Lou Cairncross , March 17, 1935 — June 12, 2018

Betty Lou Cairncross was born on March 17, 1935 in Gilroy, CA and passed away on June 12, 2018 in Atwater, CA, at the age of 83. She was the daughter of Virgal and Minnie Faria. She married William Donald Cairncross on April 11, 1953, shortly after they made their home in Winton, CA.

Betty took pride in herself as being a homemaker to her husband and 6 children. Betty spent her days raising her children, cooking, baking and making clothing for her family. As her children became older she started an upholstery shop at the family home.

She loved to share stories about different items she upholstered for people, from couches to motorcycle seats. Betty also worked for a short time at Con Agra foods. There was never a time you walked into her home and she didn’t have a homemade meal and sweets waiting for you.

Even if she was in the middle of sewing or working in her garden she would always take time to make sure you had something to eat. As her children became older and had children of their own she loved to make them blankets and matching outfits. She was a devoted Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

Betty was preceded in death by both her parents Virgal and Minnie Faria, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, daughter Adrienne, son Scott, son Earl and grandson William. Betty leaves behind her devoted husband of 65 years William Donald Cairncross, son Ralph and his wife Mila, son Kelly and his wife Pam, son Jay, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and her sister Violet Brazil.
