Betty’s Obituary Betty Lou Nida Shawver, 89, of Hurricane, formerly of Charleston, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 23, 2019. She was a long time member of Starcher Baptist Church where she was a deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and active member of her circle. Betty loved doing things for others, especially cooking and baking her lemon cakes.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, George B. Shawver; parents, James and Edna Nida; infant son, James Edwin; and brothers, Richard and Paul Nida. Betty is survived by her loving daughters, Cindy (Gary) Ray of Oak Hill, Judy Gunter and George Grayiel of Hurricane, and Lisa Sargent and Greg Hicks of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Amy, Emily, Hilary, Adam, Jared, Brandon, Abbie, and Josie; great-grandchildren, Eli, Derek, Nathan, Isabela, Leila, Kendall, Mckinnley, Avery, and Maggie; and faithful family friends, Jerry and Margaret Miller. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank HospiceCare for their love and care, especially Susie and Brittany. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 25 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Tom Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W. Charleston, WV 25387.
