OBITUARY Beverly D Phillabaum June 11, 1932 – January 1, 2019 Beverly Delores Phillabaum, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 in Kokomo. She was born in Akron, Indiana on June 11, 1932 to the late Clarion Elijah Hunter and Emma Majesca (Thompson) Hunter. Beverly graduated from Laketon High School in 1950, and then attended Elkhart Business University.

In 1964, Beverly earned her AMRA correspondence, and became an Accredited Record Technician. On August 9, 1955, Beverly was married to Sam William Woodard, and he preceded her in passing on December 31, 1986. On June 25, 1988, she married Henry Otto Phillabaum Jr., and he preceded her in passing on September 23, 2017.

She was married to Richard “Dick” Duzenbery on May 20, 2018, and he survives. Beverly had worked as the Director of Medical Records and Medical Staff Coordinator at Howard Community Hospital for 27 years, retiring in 1988. She then developed and directed the medical record department at Kokomo Rehab Hospital from June 17, 1991 to July of 1995.

She had previously worked in medical records in Detroit, South Bend, and two hospitals in Peru: Wabash RR Employees Hospital (where she met Sam) and Dukes’ Memorial. Beverly was a member of the State and National Medical Record Association, District and National Association for Medical Trascription, and Indian Heights Grace Brethren Church. In addition to her husband, Richard, Beverly is survived by her daughters, Deanna (Mark) Graham of Vevay, Indiana, and Loretta Jaenicke of Kokomo.

Beverly also leaves ten stepchildren, seven grandchildren, four great granddaughters, sixteen step-grandchildren, and twelve step-great grandchildren to cherish her memory. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Beverly was preceded in passing by her son, Kevin William Woodard; brothers, John Hunter, “Gene” Hunter, and Billy Hunter; and sister, Bonnie Karns. There will be a visitation for Beverly on Saturday, January 5th from 11-1 at Indian Heights Grace Brethren Church, located at 725 E Center Rd, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, with a funeral service immediately following the visitation.

Memorial contributions in Beverly’s name may be made to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Indiana-Six County Chapter, or the Indian Heights Grace Brethren Church of Kokomo.
