Bill’s Obituary William G. “Bill” Scott, Jr., 89, of rural Dennis, passed away at 2:00 a.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019 at the Parsons Presbyterian Manor. He was born April 11, 1929 in Dennis, Kansas to William G. Scott, Sr. and Ethel Ruth (Ligon) Scott. He grew up in Dennis where he graduated from Dennis High School.

During the Korean War, Bill proudly served in the United States Air Force from November 23, 1948 until his honorable discharge on September 9, 1952. After serving his country, he returned to Dennis where he farmed. Over the years, Bill also worked for the Sheriff’s Department and as a security guard at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.

He was a member of the Dennis United Methodist Church, Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. He was an avid historian and enjoyed woodworking and antiques.

He and Ella Mae Heit were married. They later divorced. He then married Carol Mathis and later divorced.

On June 1, 1979, he and Georgia Hines were married in rural Dennis. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2015. In 2017, he married Carol Humphrey who preceded him in death on November 29, 2018.

Survivors include: One Son – Thomas Scott of Parsons, KS Two Daughters – Susan (Scott) Vaverka of Neosho, MO Janet (Scott) Cruse and her husband, Clark, of Parsons, KS Stepchildren – David Hines and his wife, Pam, of Independence, KS Judy Orcutt of Parsons, KS Deanna Alford and her husband, Ed, of Springfield, MO Numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchildren One Brother – Robert “Bob” Scott of Tulsa, OK One Sister – Barbara Hoover of Jenks, OK A memorial visitation will be held from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 15, 2019 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The flag will be presented to the family by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Parsons, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, during the visitation.

Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Dennis at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Dennis United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
