Funeral service for Billie Joe Garrison, age 86, of Decatur, will be Thursday, March 21, 2019, 6:30 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Joel Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. prior to service.

Interment will be Friday, March 22, 2019, 2:30 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery. Billie passed from this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on March 18, 2019, at River City Center. He was born on September 17, 1932, in Union County, MS to Oscar Lewis “Doc” Garrison and Cora Evelyn Dye Garrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James L. Garrison, and stepson, Frank West. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Decatur, AL, and had retired from the City of Decatur Water Department following 30 years of service. He served in the U. S. Air Force for eight years during the Korean War where he attained the rank of SSGT.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy E. Garrison of Decatur; two sons, Bruce Wayne Garrison and Timothy Lee Garrison, both of Decatur; one daughter, Toni Jo Roberts of Somerville; three stepchildren with Nancy, Hayden Pursley of Riceville, TN, Tammy Muth Davis of Georgetown, TN, and Evelyn Brown of Hilliard, FL; one stepdaughter with Barbara West Garrison, Jackie Azar of Georgia; four brothers, James Robert Garrison of Fountain Inn, SC, Charles Hugh Garrison of Red Bay, Hershel Garrison of Phil Campbell, and Kermit Garrison of Russellville; three sisters, Cora Mae Odom of Russellville, Gloria Jean Smith of Russellville, and Sherry Lee Marbutt of Phil Campbell; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren, Pallbearers will be Matthew Garrison, Derek Garrison, Drew Muth, Jacob Lamon, Robert Garrison, and Kermit Garrison.
