OBITUARY BILLIE R MALONE November 3, 1926 – July 28, 2018 Malone, Billie Jean Rickles was born on November 3, 1926, the first of two children born to Bill and Lura Rickles, of Oneonta, Alabama. She died on July 28, 2018, in Birmingham, Alabama, after living a full and happy life. She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd McMillan Malone, Sr. (WWII Silver Star veteran) who died November 21, 1990; her mother, Lura Mae Harvey Rickles of Oneonta, Alabama who died November 3, 1998; her father, William Thomas Rickles of Oneonta, Alabama who died November 9, 1961; and her sister, Betty Rickles Walker (William) of Texas who died January 16, 1979.

She is survived by her three children, Lloyd McMillan Malone, Jr. (Melissa Morrison) of Birmingham, Pat Malone Redwine (Jim) of Vestavia Hills, and Peggy Malone of Birmingham; four grandchildren, Jennifer Epps, Justin Epps, Mark Redwine, and Daniel Redwine; and one great-granddaughter, Leila Epps. Billie graduated from Oneonta High School then attended Wesleyan College. She transferred to and graduated from University of Alabama where she was in Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

Her degree was in psychology with a minor in history. After graduation she administered the Stanford-Binet testing and measurements for the Birmingham schools and the Veteran’s Administration. Billie and her husband, Lloyd, were founding members at St. Marks United Methodist Church of Vestavia Hills where she was actively involved in missions circle and did volunteer work in the library.

She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, loved bridge, Alabama football, traveling, and politics (and was once elected State Republican Executive Committee placement). The family will receive friends at Ridout’s Elmwood Chapel ( 800 Dennison Ave SW Birmingham AL 35211) on Tuesday July 31, 2018 from10:00 until 11:00 AM with the funeral service following at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Marks United Methodist Church of Vestavia Hills on 2901 Columbiana Road Vestavia Hills Al.
