Billy Darrell Smith was born to the late Clifford Lee Smith and Wilma Jean Sturgill Smith on November 16, 1949 in Whitesburg, Ky. Bill loved working all his life as a coal miner, rock truck driver, and construction worker. He was a hard working and kind man.

Who always put his family’s needs before his own. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He gave his heart to the Lord and never looked back.

He loved listening to gospel music and going to church. Bill was preceded in death by 1 son: Billy Smith; his parents: Clifford and Wilma Jean Smith; 3 sisters: Deborah Smith, Judy Fields and Sonny Fields; 2 brothers: Roger Smith and Michael Smith. Bill is survived by 1 sister: Alecia (John) Conn of Whitco; 1 brother: Gary Wayne Smith of Whitesburg; 5 special sisters-in-law: Darlene Byrd, Peggy Morgan, Carol West, Brenda Patrick, and Charlene Quinlan of Harrison, In.

He also leaves behind 2 grandchildren: Tyler Owens and Crystal Smith West of Harrison, In. along with a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral: 1:00 O’clock P.M. Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Conn, Rodney Allen, Delmar Butler officiating.

Visitation: 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Obie Fields Cemetery at Cowan, Kentucky.
