Obituary for Bobby Joe Anderson Bobby Joe Anderson, 83, of York Township, passed away on January 6, 2019. He was the husband of Gladys Mae Anderson. Bobby and Gladys shared 51 years of marriage.
Born August 20, 1935 in Williamston, SC, he was the son of the late Kathleen Anderson Felton. Bobby was lovingly raised by his late grandparents, James and Lena Belle Anderson. In his late teens Bobby’s path led him to Brooklyn, NY where he studied aeronautic engineering.
He began his career at Fairchild Republic in Farmingdale, NY. He excelled, achieved, and was promoted in leadership and management. He retired from Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin.
After retirement, Bobby became a realtor, serving York County. He was a well-respected “Top Producer” Real Estate Associate Broker, who was active in community service and fundraising. Bobby was a member of the Real Estate Association of York and Adams Counties, National Association of Realtors, Kiwanis Club, and Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, Bobby is survived by three daughters, Renee Lynn Martin and her husband, Chris of York, Meryl “Mia” Anderson and her husband, Todd Horak of Crofton, MD, and Layla Boyce and her husband, Scott of York; two sons, Bobby, Jr. of Texas and James Michael of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph D. Anderson; and two daughters, Sharon Mills and Charlotte John. Bobby was the proud grandfather of Errol David Mills, Jr., London Aster Colby Anderson, Franklin Chandler Fleming, Keziah Ann Boyce, Isabella Grace Marie Boyce, Latisha, Shameka, Tiffany, and Jeanette Anderson.
Bobby’s family has fond memories of summers spent camping and fishing in Long Island, NY. Bobby enjoyed going on cruises with his wife, Gladys, playing cards with his close group of friends and spoiling his grandchildren. Bobby was a caring husband and loving father.
He valued his family and touched many lives. Following cremation, a memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
