Brenda Gay Long December 28, 1949 – March 29, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Brenda Gay Ellis Long, 69, Elizabethton, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. Born December 28, 1949 in Johnson City to the late Bruce & Betty Thomason Ellis, she had lived her entire life in Elizabethton. She was a 1969 graduate of Happy Valley High School.

Mrs. Long was a member of Caldwell Springs Baptist Church where she had served as church organist and Sunday School Secretary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Robert Lee Long who passed away May 26, 2017 and by a brother: Staff Sgt. Billy Joe Ellis.

She loved sitting on her back porch and spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters & sons-in-law: Karen & Andy Wilson, Teresa & Adam Taylor and Kelly & Bob Carr. Seven Grandchildren: Kayla & Derrick Wilson & wife Brittney, Austin, Dustin &wife Danielle and Logan Taylor & wife Suesanna, Lucas & Jacob Carr.

One Great Granddaughter: Sydney Taylor. Two Brothers & Sisters-In-Law; Fred & Edie Ellis and Frank & Linnie Ellis, all of Elizabethton. Her Brothers-In-Law: David Long & wife Lori and Chris Long.

Graveside Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 1, 2019 in the Smith Family Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Hinshaw and Dr. William Duncan officiating. Burial will follow the service.

Music will be provided by Howard & Vivian Hammonds. Active Pallbearers will be her Grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eddie Smith, Larry Tolley and her church family.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence. The family would like to express a very special “Thank You” to Malia Palmer and Skyla Campbell.

Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Monday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web-site www. memorialfcelizabethton.com.
