Funeral services for Brenda Sue Kinner Gibson, 66, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin with Bro. Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow at Bennett Cemetery in Trinity County.

Mrs. Gibson was born February 3, 1952 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of William Milam Kinner and Robbie (Standley) Kinner, and died Thursday, May 3, 2018 in Lufkin. Mrs. Gibson loved spending time with her daughters and grandsons. A nature lover, she enjoyed the outdoors; specifically, the cows with her husband.

Mrs. Gibson loved being a teacher and was loved by all of her students. An avid reader herself, Mrs. Gibson always enjoyed reading and encouraged her students and family members to be lifetime readers. A devout Christian, she was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church and attended the Kendrick Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Gibson enjoyed traveling, and a memorable trip for her was an Alaskan Cruise with her extended family; however, she found great joy in spur of the moment road trips. A gentle and kind person, Mrs. Gibson will be fondly remembered as a genuine spirit and kind soul who embraced life with zest and a welcoming spirit to anyone who came to her door. She is survived by her husband, Richard Gibson of Lufkin; daughter, Adrianne Womack of California; daughter and son-in-law, Emily and Chad Smith of Tomball; daughter and longtime boyfriend, Hayley Dent Gibson and Luke Harrison of College Station; grandsons, Kaden Womack and Liam Womack, both of Lufkin; grandsons, Parker Smith and Peyton Smith, both of Tomball; mother, Robbie Kinner of Lufkin; and sister-in-law, Fran Hightower of Lufkin.

Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her father, William Milam Kinner; brother, William “Bill” Earl Kinner; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evelyn and Henry Gibson. Pallbearers will be Grant Hightower, Craig Smith, David Hebert, Richard Crenshaw, AJ Noel, and Ted Eddins. Special memorials may be made to the library of your choice.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, May 7, 2018 at Denman Avenue Baptist Church. Shafer Funeral Home, directors.
