Obituary for Brendan J. Coughlin Brendan Coughlin, 59, of Longmeadow, ended a rich, loving and joyous life on this earth on Friday, December 7, 2018 in the comfort of his own home, with his devoted family by his side. Brendan could always be found engaged in activities involving his children- whether it was attending athletic events, traveling, Rhode Island beaches, golfing, or the occasional cruise. He was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church, taught CCD and was very involved with the fellowship committee.
A focal point in his life was his Longmeadow community. Brendan was a kind, friendly, outgoing individual with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed hosting dinner parties, and making popcorn for his kid’s friends and champagne punch for his adult friends.
Of all his noteworthy endeavors, which included education, banking, and entrepreneurship, he most enjoyed his current position as Regional Director with AAA Northeast. Brendan’s family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the St. Mary’s Parish Family, the Longmeadow community and his Triple AAA friends for their outpouring support during his illness. Brendan is survived by his three children, Emily Coughlin, Aidan Coughlin, and Christopher Coughlin, all of Longmeadow; his sisters, Kathleen Stowell and her husband, Rob of Bethel, CT, and their children, Joshua and Michaela; Christine Coughlin and her partner, Joyce LaBonte of Worcester, MA; Maura Coughlin and her son Ben of Hopewell, NJ; Karen Slattery of Suffield, CT, and her children, Patrick and Shaun; a brother, John Coughlin and his wife, Sandy of Emmitsburg, MD, and their children, Stephanie, John, Kevin, Aileen, Gabrielle, Hannah, Liam, Caitriona, Kolbe, and Therese; and many great nieces and nephews.
Brendan was predeceased by his parents, John and Lynne Coughlin and a brother-in-law, Mark Kelly. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield, CT 06082.
