Brian Shawn McNally, 58, of Michigan City, passed away unexpectedly at 5:02 p.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 in his home. He was born April 19, 1960, in Hoffman Estates, IL, to James Patrick McNally Sr. and Virginia (Buchanan) McNally. Brian graduated from Chesterton High School.

While attending high school, he was very active on the wrestling team and also active playing softball. Brian was a member of F.O.P. Auxiliary, D.A.V., Moose Lodge, V.F.W. and the American Legion, all… Read More » of Michigan City. He was a die-hard Blackhawks, Cubs, Notre Dame and Bears fan.

Brian and his friends created a club called, Five Horsemen F.O.P., dedicated to Notre Dame football they watched together. He was employed as a correctional officer at the Indiana State Prison. Brian formerly worked in the Bricklayer Union.

Surviving are one sister, Mary Ellen McNally of Michigan City; seven nephews, Cory Thomas Sims, Brett Alexander Sims, Melissa Mortimore, Michelle Garcia, Michael McLemore, Robert McLemore and Joe Lawson; best friend brother, Mark “Mookie” Ritchie; and best friend, Pam Pizarek of Michigan City. Preceding him in death were his parents, James Patrick McNally Sr. and Virginia Lawson; one sister, Patricia Marie McNally; and three brothers, Timothy Lee McNally, James Patrick McNally and Michael John McNally. A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd.
