Herbert James Link, 79, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 6:47 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. He was born September 30, 1939, in La Porte, to Herbert and Effie (Dorthea Rameier) Link. Herbert retired from the Indiana Highway Department.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Rumely Allis-Chalmers La Porte Heritage Center and the Sunday Farmer’s Club, La Porte. Herbert attended Purdue University and enjoyed cooking, gardening and… Read More » socializing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandson, Gunnar.

On October 29, 2004, he married the love of his life, Joyce (Standifer) Link, who survives. Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Bonee (Duane) Lowery of La Porte; one sister, Sandra Lignell of Oak Park, IL; and one grandchild, Gunnar Link McWhirter of La Porte. Preceding in death were his parents.
