Obituary for Dr. Tamara E. O’Neal Dr. Tamara E. O’Neal May 29, 1980-November 19, 2018 Dr. Tamara E. O’Neal, 38, of Chicago, Illinois (formerly of La Porte, IN), passed away Monday, November 19, 2018 in Chicago, Illinois. She was born May 29, 1980 in La Porte, Indiana, the daughter of Thomas B. O’Neal Jr. and Glendell (Beane) O’Neal of La Porte, Indiana. Tamara graduated from La Porte High School in 1998 where she found her love of dancing and was a member of the poms squad.
After high school she attended Purdue University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She then moved on to Southern Illinois University where she completed her pre med school. After pre med school Tamara enrolled at the University of Illinois at Chicago where she completed her med-school and later completed her residency.
Tamara was extremely family oriented, and she loved spending quality time with her family, especially cooking and entertaining with her nieces and nephews. Tamara was also very involved with her church and church family. She held the position of the choir director and enjoyed playing the piano.
She is also survived by her brother, LaShawn (Jennifer) O’Neal (La Porte); sister, Sharita O’Neal (La Porte); grandmother, Ophelia Beane (Bernie, Missouri); two nieces, Jalaysia (La Porte), Ava (La Porte); two nephews, LaShawn (La Porte), Brandon (LaPorte); aunts, Ella O’Neal (Augusta, Arkansas), Kallima O’Neal (La Porte), Linda (Alfred) Hall (La Porte), Vickie O’Neal (La Porte), Patricia (Alvin) Rallings (La Porte), Barbara (Harrison) Russell (La Porte), Dorothy (Clifton) Austin (Richmond, Texas), Bobbie (Joe) Davis (South Bend), Gena (Jewell) McKinney (Kennett, Missouri), Patricia (Kenny) Scott (South Bend), Vanessa (Archie) Bradford (South Bend), Deloris (late James) Davis (South Bend), Valerie (David) Wheeler (Kennett, Missouri), Angela (Dewin) Roberts (South Bend); special aunts, Denise O’Neal (Atlanta, Georgia), Beverly Beane (South Bend), Monique Beane (Jacksonville, Florida); uncles, Granvile (Pam) O’Neal (Kansas City, Kansas), Terry (Nichele) O’Neal (La Porte), Phillip O’Neal (La Porte), Lawrence Beane (South Bend), Terry Beane (La Porte), Jimmy Beane (Jacksonville, Florida), Anthony (Tina) Beane (Carbondale, Illinois). A host of special cousins, relatives and friends. Tamara was preceded in death by her grandparents Thomas O’Neal, Sr. and Elsie O’Neal; grandfather, Mitchell Beane, aunt Janice Boyd.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave. , La Porte, Indiana. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 29, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Haverstock Funeral Home and Friday, November 30, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
A life celebration will be held at First Church of God, Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte, Indiana.
