Robert J. Wedow, 80, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018. Bob was born on April 4, 1938 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Robert and Ann (Cygan) Wedow. On April 26, 1958, Bob married LuAnn Lenard who survives.

Bob served his country in the United States Air Force. He also was a firefighter for the City of La Porte, where he served as the Chief from 1981 to 1983. He was again chosen to assume the role of Fire Chief in 1985 to 1986.

Bob is survived by a daughter, Susan A. Lestinsky of New Carlisle; and a son, Robert S. Wedow of St. Joseph, Michigan. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the funeral home with Reverend Ian Williams officiating. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the funeral service in the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 “C” Street, La Porte, Indiana 46350. Please share prayers, condolences and memories with the family at Essling Funeral Home.com.
