Margaret Elizabeth Fischer, 91, of Westville, passed away peacefully at 5:20 p.m., Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle. She was born August 17, 1927, in Alameda County, California, to James and Susan Grace (Grimwood) Holm. Margaret was a seamstress for Filter Specialist Incorporated for 20 years.

She was a current member of Westville United Methodist Church. She volunteered her time at the church resale shop after her retirement. Margaret enjoyed reading,… Read More » cooking and raising canaries and parakeets.

She especially enjoyed reading stories to her grandchildren. Margaret loved her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren very deeply. Her family was a big part of her life.

Surviving are three children, Michael David (Louise) McCluskey of Gurnee, IL, Linda (Raymond) Kowalski of Rolling Prairie and Margaret (Ken) Mattox of Westville; four grandchildren, Michelle McCluskey of IL, Michael (Stacey) McCluskey of Minnesota, Carl (Kellie) Demchak and Melissa (Orvel) Strebe both of La Porte; six great grandchildren, Nikolas, Maija, Michael, Hannah, Daryl and Summer; two great-great grandchildren, Aubrie and Lilly; and two special nieces, Carol Walters of California and Susan Carson of Colorado. Preceding her in death were her parents; several brothers and sisters; and two grandsons, Michael and Mark Demchak. Cremation will take place.

A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd.
