Obituary for Calvin C. Gettle Calvin C. Gettle, 83, formerly of Ono passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at his home. He was the husband of the late Geraldine F. Wentling Gettle. Born in Swatara Twp.

on March 7, 1935, he was the son of the late Adam and Bertha Aungst Gettle. Along with his wife, they owned and operated Gettle’s Grocery Store in Ono. Calvin loved his job as an ore miner for the former Cornwall Ore Mines.

After the 1972 flood, he worked for Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Ono United Methodist Church. He loved playing softball for the Ono Wildcats, enjoyed antiquing, hunting, fishing and working on old clocks.

He loved his country and served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne. He enjoyed his pipe and especially spending time with his family. He is survived by his daughters Sandra F. wife of Robert J. Grubb of Lebanon and Brenda L. Gettle and her companion Brian Gardner of Lebanon; grandchildren Troy R. husband of Erin Grubb and Alisha wife of Paul Padelsky; four great grandchildren Maura, Caden, Max and Fischer; his grand dog Billy; brothers David of Myerstown, Larry of Fredericksburg, Donald of Myerstown, Dale of Newbern, NC and Dennis of Myerstown; and sisters Bertha Young of Jonestown, Kathy Trout of Bethel and Vera Madison of Pine Grove.

He was preceded in death by brothers Adam Gettle, Jr., Kenneth and James Gettle and sisters Donna Gettle and Lena Gettle. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the Ono United Methodist Church, 9 Main St., Ono. Viewing will be held at 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd. , Suite 30, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or online at support.
