Captola “George” Thompson-Gage, 86, of Kingston, TN, died at 1:50 AM, Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Park West Hospital, Knoxville, TN, with her daughter Beth Gage Johnson at her side. Her passing due to health issues stemming from heart disease and diabetes. Captola was one of ten children born to Earl and Sophia White Thompson on December 13, 1932 at their rural home in Meigs County, Tennessee.

She and identical twin sister Teola “Abe” Thompson-Patterson grew up in rural Meigs and Roane Counties south of Kingston, TN. Both attended Midway High School, and for a time, managed separate grocery stores, along Hwy 72. Travelling salesmen working the Hwy 72 rural circuit were often challenged to remember their sales pitches after realizing there were identical store managers only a few miles apart.

George, as known by family and friends, was a no-nonsense lady that always found a way to help those in need. She often spoke of gratitude for those coming to her need over the 35 years while caring for her injured son, Tim. George was preceded in death by her husband, Charles and son Tim Gage.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Thompson-King of Kingston; daughter Lesyle Gage Davis of Kingston; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Ester Gage of Kingston; Bruce and Sherry Gage of Huntsville, AL; and daughter, Beth Gage Johnson of Kingston. Grandchildren Trevor and Melissa Davis Davis of Kingston; Jared and Shelli Davis of Kingston; Ryan and Holly Johnson of Philadelphia, TN; Amber Johnson of Philadelphia, TN; Bret Gage of Philadelphia, TN, Cassy Gage-Turner (Jared) of Meridianville, AL, Joel Gage of Nashville, TN; and Aaron Gage of Lenoir City; and great grandchildren; Keagan and Jayleigh Davis of Kingston; Eli and Jackson Davis of Kingston, Brody and Carli Johnson; and Ethan and Hannah Gage of Philadelphia, TN. The family will receive friends from 5PM to 8PM on Thursday January 24th at Kyker Funeral Home, Kingston, TN.

The funeral service will follow the receiving of friends beginning at 8:00 PM. She will be buried on Friday, January 25th at Kingston Memorial Garden at 1:00 PM. Her presence, determined heart and soul will be greatly missed.
