Obituary for Carl E. Carson Jr. Carl E. Carson, Jr., 93, of Carthage, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born June 22, 1925 in Shirley, a son of Carl and Mary (Harvey) Carson, Sr. A 1943 graduate of Carthage High School, Carl was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was wounded on the battlefield in Germany and received a Purple Heart.

He owned and operated Carson and Siler Trucking in Carthage for many years. Carl was a longtime active member of Carthage Community Church, where he served in several capacities including Sunday School Superintendent, Board Member and teacher. He was active in Gideon’s International for over four decades.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 72 years, Maxine (Edwards) Carson of Carthage, whom he married February 15, 1946; three sons, Mark (Peggy) Carson of Greenwood, Daryl (Laura) Carson of Monticello, and Roger (Debbie) Carson of Greenfield; nine grandchildren, Zach Carson of Denver, CO, Casey (Tyler) Ferguson of Bargersville, T.J. (Elaine) Carson of Logansport, Liz Carson (Zach) of Logansport, Rachel Carson (John) of Brookfield, IL, Doug (Kaele) Albert of McCordsville, Ben (Natalie) Albert of McCordsville, Jessica Carson (Nate) of Indianapolis, and Josh Carson of Indianapolis; great grandchildren, Jack, Parker, Savannah, Lyla and Brody. Also, two nephews and a niece survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Siler and Joyce Yetter. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Friday, September 21, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, Knightstown Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the funeral home.
