Obituary for Vicki Ann Thalls Vicki Ann (Dyer) Thalls, 77, passed away after a long battle with dementia. She was born March 19, 1941 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Alvin Morris and Cleais Belle (Kerrigan) Dyer. She attended St. Anne Catholic Schools until the 8th grade.

She was a 3-year Varsity cheerleader and Class of 1959 Prom Queen. After high school, she married and raised 5 children while she and her husband opened Mike Thalls Insurance. She worked as a teacher’s aide at Parker Elementary School, and at the age of 45, with two children still at home, she felt a calling to be a nurse.

She then graduated from University of Indianapolis School of Nursing and was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis Oncology Unit until her retirement. She enjoyed flower gardening, swimming, and horseback riding. She was an avid sports fan and her favorites were Norte Dame, the Pacers and the Colts.

Above all she loved watching her children participate in sports and attended all of their games. Her greatest passion was rescuing and helping animals. Her home was always warm, loving, and welcoming to all, and was always open to her children’s friends.

Survivors include her children, Todd Thalls of New Castle, Thomas (Amy) Thalls of Seward, NE, Tona Thalls of New Castle, Trisha Thalls of New Castle, and Traci (Michael) Chalk of Ft. Myers, FL; grandchildren, Emily Thalls of Pendelton, Ellen (Herbert) Ice of Okinawa, Japan, Tiffany (Nate) Murdoch of Grand Island, NE, Brittany (Landon) Sanchez of Lincoln, NE, Breanne (Jeremy) Lenning of Seward, NE, Kerrigan (Joey) Thompson of New Castle, Grayson Chalk, and Cade Chalk both of Ft. Myers, FL; thirteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Rains. A private family service will be on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Paul Davis officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Pat’s Pet Clinic, 11 Midway Dr., New Castle, IN 47362.
