Obituary for Betty J. Murphy Betty J. Murphy, 94, of New Castle passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the Waters of New Castle. She was born June 15, 1924 in Elizabethtown, IN to the late John and Ina (Parker) Graves. She was a 1942 graduate of New Castle High School and retired from Indiana Gas Company in 1987 after 45 years of service.

Betty was a Birthright member of the First Friends Meeting in New Castle. She is survived by a niece, Gayle Ann (Jim) Bryant of Greensburg; nephews, Bruce (Ann) Bussell of Greenfield and Gary (Connie) Bussell of Muncie; great nephews, Charles (Jane) Bryant and Brian Bussell of Charlottesville, VA; great niece, Jami Bryant; great-great nephews, Justin Bryant and Tyler Longfellow; great-great nieces, Allison Bryant, Melissa and Cristina Bussell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert R. Murphy, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Graves.

Services will be at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 15, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service with Pastor Rick Schoeff officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. prior to the service.
