Obituary for Gala L. “Goldie” Benson Gala L. “Goldie” Benson, 84, of New Castle passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born May 17, 1934 in Wayne County, KY to the late William and Becky (Huddleston) Davis. She retired from Firestone/Bridgestone in Noblesville after 30 years of service.

Goldie enjoyed playing BINGO and loved spending time with family and friends. She is survived by a daughter, Sherry McRoberts of New Castle; a son, Greg (Debbie) Benson of New Castle; six grandchildren, Leah Hinman, Nick (Sherri) Benson, Chad (Brooke) McRoberts, Amber McRoberts (Mark Brown), Rebecca (Robert) Fairchild and Clinton Benson; step granddaughter, Angel Irwin all of New Castle; 7 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren; 2 step great-great grandchildren; sister, Armilda (Curt) Alspaugh of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Walter (Leslie) Davis of Middletown; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Benson; daughter, Pamela Hinman; son, John Benson; sisters, Flossie Sparks, Evelyn Roberts; brothers, William, James and Bennie Davis and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2018 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with Phil Miles officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, October 11 at the funeral home.
