Jane Ella Coates, 89, of New Castle, Indiana, passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, October 3, 2018. She was born at home on Thursday, October 3, 1929 in Fries, Virginia to Elbert Bratton and Mattie (Murry) Bratton. On February 14, 1958 Jane married the late David Newton Coates in New Castle, Indiana.

She loved reading, enjoyed needlework, traveling and spending time with her family. Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband David, of 50 years, her son Jeffrey David Coates, her brothers Dougless W, Bratton, James Coy Bratton Sr., sister Virginia Marie Troxell and gradaughter Carisa Ann Coates. She is survived by her: daughter Annetta Ellen Cory, brothers Robert “Bud” Bratton (wife Clata) and Bruce Bratton, sister Patricia Ann Lowe, sisters-in-law Shirley Bratton and Celestine Bratton, brother-in-law Robert Coates, daughter-in-law Bonnie Coates, grandchildren, David Coates, Jennifer Cory, Amy (Cory) Truman, Mike Cory II, Anthony Cory (wife Rachel), great-grandchildren Trey Coates, AnneMarie Truman, Samuel Cory, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 11:00 to 1:00 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services. The funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, officiated by the Rev. Jeff Jaco.

Burial service will take place at South Mound Cemetery immediately following. Online condolences may be made to www. macerhall.com.
