Carl Olson went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving family. Carl was born in Detroit on December 26, 1948 to Franklin and Genevieve Olson.
His most important task in life was to be a faithful servant of the Lord, always trying to spread God’s Good News and hand out crosses as often as he could. His other passion in life was his family, he was a loving and devoted husband of almost 47 years and a true family man. You could almost always find a grandkid in his lap playing with toys or discussing the matters of life.
Even his grown children would find their way next to him on the couch, leaning against his belly, tucked under his arm. He was always so proud of the woman he married. He loved being a big brother and uncle/great uncle.
He loved doing silly magic tricks with the kids and playing cards with the grown ups. He made friends everywhere he went and he made his friends feel like they were family. He could talk to anyone and tried to talk to everyone, wanting each person to know how special and important they are.
He was a Sunday school and catechism teacher, MCREST homeless services co-coordinator, usher, and leader of many other church committees. He was a loyal Tigers fan and paid attention to every pitch and what it meant. He was a skilled athlete and a patient golf coach.
He loved to cook breakfast. He did his part to make the world a better place. He graduated from Valparaiso University and became a school teacher before joining the FBI.
He obtained a Master’s degree from Central Michigan University. The majority of his career was spent with General Motors. He is survived by his wife Esther, children Tonia (Gail), Dan (Erica) and Amanda (Tim) and grandchildren Tommy, Travis, Lincoln, (the late Preston Carl) , Maddison, Maecyn and Dawson; his siblings Ken (Betsy), the late Kayrl (Jeff), Kerry (the late Kathy), Keith (Cindy), mother-in-law Doris, sister-in-law Sharon, and several nieces/nephews and grand nieces/nephews.
