Obituary for Mrs. Carlene Emily Nemec Nemec – Carlene Emily Nemec, age 74, of Waldo, Florida passed away on June 1, 2018 at the E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville, FL. She was born on February 3, 1944 in Chicago, IL to the late John Johnson and Ethel “Dolly” Marie Powers (Musinski). Carlene was raised in Chicago where she met the love of her life, Norman.
They were happily married on April 7, 1962 and together they raised two children, Pamela and Norman, Jr. Carlene was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to her family and caring for their needs the best she knew how. Carlene was Protestant by faith and loved listening to Jimmy Swaggart and Joel Osteen sermons, but most of all she loved Jesus.
Carlene was a wonderful singer and used to sing Gospel traveling to different churches. She also enjoyed working with those that were mentally disabled, shopping, collecting dolls, and attending exercise classes in her younger years. Carlene had a love for dogs and raised many but Dobermans were her passion.
More than anything, Carlene was passionate about her family and loved them all dearly from her grandchildren, to her sisters/brothers, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Judith Netzband and Shirley Fedder, and her brothers, Joe Moretti and Dennis Potter. Carlene is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Norman P. Nemec, Sr. of Waldo, FL; her children, Pamela Marie (Charles Nelson) Nemec of Interlachen, FL and Norman (Jennifer) Nemec, Jr. of Hoffman Estates, IL; her brothers, John (Linda) Johnson of Tampa, FL, and Emerson (Cathy) Potter of Tinley Park, IL; her sisters, Lucy Wellman of Wheaton, IL, Dorothy Johnson of Chicago, IL, and Janice (John) Abrahamian of Burbank, IL; and her grandchildren, Zachery and Emily Nemec, and Drake Sturma.
A Celebration of Carlene’s Life will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services and Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel, Starke, Fl.
