Swansea – Mr. Carnell Jennings Courtney, 76, entered into rest Sunday, July 29th, 2018. Mr. Carnell was the husband of Melba Peele Courtney for fifty-five years. He is the father of David (Rebecca) Courtney, Susan (Frankie) Chambers, and Jason Courtney.

Mr. Carnell’s grandchildren are Ashley Courtney, Caitlin Courtney, Pamela (Gerald) Singleton, Amber (Brian) Miles, and Kayla Knight. His great grandchildren are Phillip Scott Westmoreland, Jr., Emalee Cheyanne Westmoreland, Kaison Moore, Breanna Miles, Trent Miles, and Brayden Thomas. Mr. Carnell was the son of the late Willie Jordan Courtney and the late Azilee Hutto Courtney, He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Coy Courtney, James Courtney, W. C. Courtney, Edna Corbett, and Norma Lee Fulmer.

Mr. Carnell was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Carnell enjoyed hunting, fishing, and raising farm animals.

He also enjoyed watching old western movies. A Service Celebrating the life of Mr. Carnell will be held at a later date.
