Obituary for Carol France (McBennett) THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF CAROL D. FRANCE WATERTOWN – Carol D. (McBennett) France, age 77 of Watertown, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Hartford Hospital. She was the widow of Howard France Sr Mrs. France was born October 3, 1940 in Putnam CT, the daughter of the late John McBennett and Rose Marie (Bellerive) McBennett.
She attended local schools, graduated from Watertown High School and worked for many years as a Secretary at Winchester Electronics. Carol was an avid reader, loved birds of all types and was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church as well as a member of the Council of Catholic Women. Carol will be greatly missed by her family and all those who were blessed to know and love her.
She leaves her son, Howard France Jr and his wife, Nereida of Oakville, her sister, Margaret Spring of Bantam and her grandchildren; Daniel and his wife, Ashley and Michael France as well as her great grandson, Oliver France and many close, dear friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra M. France, brothers; John and Robert McBennett and sisters, Joan Wilshire and Rita Contois. Funeral services for Mrs. France will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2018 when a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Church Main St Watertown at 10:00 a.m. Those planning to attend are kindly asked to meet directly at the church.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the family plot in Middlebury Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The O’Neill Funeral Home 742 Main St Oakville, CT has been entrusted to assist the family with arrangements.
