Obituary for Valerie Sluga (Hamel) THE CASEY FAMILY IS HONORED TO BE ASSISTING AND CARING FOR THE FAMILY OF VALERIE SLUGA “Former Stand-up Comedian” ORLANDO FL- Valerie (Hamel) Sluga, age 45 passed away on Wednesday November 14, 2018 at Orlando Regional Medical Center with her loved ones by her side. Valerie was born on January 2, 1973 in Derby the daughter of Zachary Plaskon and the late Susan Hamel. She was a graduate of Crosby High School, Southern CT State University and Stenotype Institute, Orlando Campus.

At the time of her passing, she was employed as a customer service representative for Morgan and Morgan Law Firm, Orlando. Valerie was a die-hard Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan, had a passion for flying, going on cruises, biking and 5k races. She loved being a stand-up comedian, lounging on the beach and being a personal tour guide for Disney World.

She was the most beautiful and beloved sister, niece, cousin and friend with the kindest of souls. Valerie will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love her. Besides her father, Valerie is survived by her stepfather, Russell Hamel, stepmother, Patricia Plaskon, brothers; Daniel Hamel and his wife, Cheryl and Lee Plasken and sisters; Erin Hamel, Molly Hamel, and Natasha McConnell.

She also leaves her many nieces and nephews that adored her, uncles, aunts cousins and friends. She will be forever grateful to her devoted dog, Rizzo Funeral Services for Ms. Sluga will be held on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. when a Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St. Waterbury CT. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may visit with Valerie’s family on Thursday evening December 6, 2018 from 5:00 till 7:00 p.m. at Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home, 1987 East Main St @Southmayd Rd Waterbury CT 06705. To honor her memory, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Liver Foundation or to the Walt Disney Company, Make a Wish Foundation for Children.
