Carol Gay Warr Schofield passed away on June 1, 2018. Carol was born on May 12, 1931 in Oakley, Idaho to Kenneth and Rowena Warr. She was the fourth of seven children.
She grew up in Oakley, where she graduated from Oakley High School as co-valedictorian. Education was very important to Carol. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and became a high school drama teacher.
She went on to earn a master’s degree in speech pathology from the University of Utah then worked as a speech therapist both privately and for the Granite School District. Carol spent her professional life helping children learn to better express their feelings and speak and communicate with others. Carol married her loving husband Ted in 1961 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Together they had four children. Carol was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Nothing was more important to Carol than raising her family with the principles found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
She had a sincere love for her Savior and a strong desire to serve. She held many callings, wrote and directed road shows and was a gifted teacher. One of her most treasured life experiences was serving a full-time mission in Pennsylvania with her sweet husband.
Carol leaves behind a wonderful legacy of caring service. Her life was filled with serving her family, her church members, her neighbors and her community. She was very sensitive to the needs of others and always on the lookout for someone who might need help.
Carol was a gifted creative writer and enjoyed writing poems and stories. She brightened the lives of family and friends with her poetry. She also enjoyed reading, sewing and was a wonderful cook.
She enjoyed spending time with family. She loved being Nana to nine beautiful grandchildren, and her greatest joy was hearing about the milestones and accomplishments in her wonderful grandchildren’s lives. Their Nana will be missed.
A heart-felt thanks goes to the staff of The Beehive Home of East Millcreek and Millcreek Hospice who cared for Carol so well during her final days. The staff of these organizations cared for Carol with great skill and compassion. Carol’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Millcreek Home Health and Hospice.
Carol is survived by her four children, Suzanne Gallegos, Kristen (David) Dorsey, David (Lisa) Schofield, and Paul (Jennifer) Schofield; nine grandchildren, Austin, Jillian (Matt) Kershaw, Landon, Dillon, Isabelle, Benjamin, Brandon, Nicholas and Andrew; her sister, LeAnn Warr and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted, her parents, Kenneth and Rowena Warr, and her siblings, Donna, Margie, Hal, Alan and Mark. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, June 7th at 11:00 am at the East Mill Creek 2nd Ward, 3750 South Hillside Lane (2500 East), where friends may visit with the family from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service.
