Roxana: Carol Joyce Heffner, 76, passed away at 10:40pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at her son’s house in Bethalto. She was born on December 18, 1941, in Eldred, Illinois, the daughter of the late Floyd O. and Elsie R. (Newton) Chapman. She married Howard Richard Heffner on January 7, 1962, in Wood River, and he preceded her in death on August 28, 2018.

Carol was employed by the United States Postal Service for thirty years where she worked in Dorsey, Roxana, Mitchell, East Alton areas retiring from the Granite City Post Office. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Wood River.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Donna Cafazza and Pat Courto. In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 9am until time of funeral services at 11am on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the First Christian Church in Wood River. Walter McCaslin will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Memorials are suggested First Christian Church in Wood River.
