Carol Lynn Stubbs (nee Asch), 58, passed away at home on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Carol was born to Albert and Anna Asch on December 16, 1959 in Kentucky. On May 20, 1989, she married the love of her life, Randall Stubbs, and dedicated her life to educating students on the wonders and joys of music.

For the past 12 years she served as a missionary in Tanzania at Tumaini University Makumira with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Prior to that she served in the music ministry at First Lutheran Church, DeKalb, Illinois for 18 years. During that time she founded and was the Artistic Director of the Northern Illinois Children’s Chorus.

Those left behind to cherish Carol’s memory include her husband, Randall Stubbs; her three children Megan (Emmanuel) Ndale of Tanzania, Marissa Stubbs of Tanzania, and Nathan Stubbs of Austin, Texas; her mother Anna Asch (nee Akers); brothers Glenn (Laurie) Asch, Dan (Masayo Ito) Asch, and David (Cheryl) Asch; her nieces and nephews Charles (Cassidy) Asch, Ariel Asch, and Carrie Rose Asch, Andrew (Michael Belcher) Hillman, Eric (Janelle) Hillman, Jade (Thi Them) Wilder Them, Patrick J. (Ann Marie Rian) Wanzeck, Alex Asch, Haley Asch, Devon Asch Nicole Stubbs, Leif and Ivan Holmgren; brothers and sisters-in-law Rodney (Tama) Stubbs, Cindy Holmgren, Mary Stubbs, Andrea (Dennis) Bartsch, Kristin (Patrick I. Wanzeck) Hillman; and other great nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, many students, relatives and friends. In addition to her father, Carol is preceded in death by her daughter, Juliana Isawafo and her sister, Laura (George III) Staerkel. A Service of Celebration for the life of Carol will be on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 4:30 PM at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Kohlsville, WI with visitation beforehand starting 3:00 p.m. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Hari and the staff at Froedtert Hospital and Allay Hospice.
