Obituary for Carol Sue Kunz Carol Sue Kunz, 76, of Delphos, passed away surrounded by her loving family, Sunday evening, May 13, 2018, after being a patient at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center for two days. Her Family…. She was born January 16, 1942 in Lima to Otmer and Mildred (Rekart) Wanamaker, who both preceded her in death.

On May 9, 1964, she married Ronald Kunz in St. John the Evangelist Church by the Rev. Thomas Gorman. They had been married 54 years.

Ron survives in Delphos. She is also survived by three sons, Scott (Ruth) Kunz, of New York, David Kunz, and Randy (Kelly) Kunz, both of Delphos; two daughters, Sherri (Mark) Koester, and Vicki Kunz, both of Delphos; three sisters, Janice (Lynn) Davenport, Diane (Bob) Freund, and Terri (Jim) Etzkorn, all of Florida; a sister-in-law, Ann Wanamaker of Xenia; and eight grandchildren, Luke Kunz, Debra Kunz, Dustin Kunz, Emma Kunz, Kaden Kunz, Brother Dominic Mary (Tyler) Koester, Ryan Koester, and Kristina Koester. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Wanamaker.

Her Legacy…. Carol graduated in 1960 from St. John’s High School, and in 1963 she graduated from St. Rita’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a pediatric nurse at St. Rita’s Hospital.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was also a member of St. Rita’s Alumni Nurse’s Association. Carol volunteered many hours to St. John’s Church.

Her volunteer work started in 1992, when she and her husband, Ron, started compiling death and cemetery records, compiling a list of over 7,000 graves. They also compiled a list from the church’s wedding and baptism books, spending many hours translating German and verifying s. She was most proud of the digital sign in front of the church, where Carol has kept people informed of what’s going on in the Parish by inputting all the information. Carol made numerous contributions with her genealogy work for the community, especially the cemeteries.

Her Farewell Services. … Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 18 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church fund for a new sign.
