Obituary for Caroline Francis Spooner Caroline Spooner passed away Wednesday morning, October 24, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living, with Inspiration Hospice in attendance. The funeral service will be held at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church (1580 Vine Street, Murray) on Saturday, November 24, at 10:30 am. Caroline Spooner was born in Rome, New York to Laura Francis Woodruff and Laurence Abbott Woodruff.

She was the oldest of three sisters. She was known by her friends and family to be gracious, intelligent, compassionate and extremely kind. After finishing business school during World War II, she worked at General Cable Company in Rome, New York.

She married Cortland Spooner from New Jersey, and settled in Fresh Meadows, New Jersey. They then moved to Larchmont, New York where they lived for many years. During those years, Cortland traveled for work extensively and Caroline took care of both of their elderly mothers, as well as joining the Women’s Club for Charity.

When Cortland retired, they moved to St. Augustine, Florida. In the 90’s they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to Carol’s sister, Woody, and her family. Caroline and Cortland joined the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church when they arrived, and Caroline became a member of the Circle Four, also a women’s group.

She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She lived her remaining years at Cottonwood Creek Assisted Living. The family would like to thank the staff, especially Bobbie, Christine, and Randy from Sandy.

Also, a heartfelt thank you to Inspiration Hospice, especially Nurses Natalie Evans, Franki Loftus and Steve Price for their beautiful work and kind attention. Caroline is survived by her sister, Mabel (Woody) Renzetti, her nieces and nephews; Larry Renzetti (Lorraine Montoya Renzetti), Pamela Renzetti Sorensen (John Sorensen), David Renzetti (Katie Shaw Renzetti), and Patricia Renzetti, Betsy Wilkins Mathias (Charles Mathias), Weston Wilkins, and Richard Wilkins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, Cortland S. Spooner, her younger sister, Ruth Woodruff Wilkins, and her nephew Charlie Wilkins.

A funeral service will be held at Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, 1580 Vine Street, Murray. Donations in lieu of flowers could be sent to Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, www. cottonwoodpres.org, or the charity of your choice in Caroline Spooner’s name.
