OBITUARY Carrie Eaton Jernigan September 22, 1956 – December 25, 2018 Carrie Eaton Jernigan, 62, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee passed into the hands of a welcoming Savior on Christmas Day after a long 4 ½ year battle with cancer. She was a strong and faithful servant that touched many and for whom she changed by her love that she gave. She will be dearly missed.
Carrie was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl in 1956 where she lived until attending and then graduating from The Florida State University in 1978. It was there that she met her future husband Don Jernigan.
After graduating she married Don and spent the next 40 years traveling the country with him as the love of his life. She was a Navy wife supporting Don and caring for two children while he was at sea serving his nation. She was also a wife caring for the household while Don met the challenges of a long and demanding career.
She had a passion for telling the story of Christ through the art of theater and helped lead that effort in many cities that included Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Miami, Florida; Richmond, Virginia; Panama City, Florida; and Chattanooga, Tennessee. There is no counting the many lives she touched and help bring to Christ through the telling of his story over the many decades she served him in this role. Carrie was a loving and devoted wife, a nurturing and giving mother, and a Mimi to 6 grandchildren that she spoiled with overwhelming love.
It was on the day of her death that it was learned that a seventh grandchild is now on the way. Surviving is her husband Don, who will miss her tremendously. Her surviving son, Chris Jernigan, of Millersville, Maryland and his wife Jamie Jernigan, who gave tirelessly in Carrie’s last days, grieve her.
Chris’ three surviving children Bailey, Riley, and Finley will also miss their Mimi. Carrie’s daughter April Todd of Jupiter, Florida survives, as does her husband Jason Todd, who stood by her for many hours in her last days, will also miss her enormously. Three additional grandchildren survive and will miss their Mimi; Madelyn Todd, who had a special bond with Mimi as the oldest grandchild, Andrew Todd, and Katie Todd will miss the grandmother they adored.
Also surviving is a brother Daniel Robinson and his wife Beverley of Dallas, Texas and Carrie’s Father and Mother-in-Law Kenneth and Etheleene Jernigan of Pensacola, Florida. Preceding her in death is her father George Richard William Robinson III and mother Clara Margie Welker Robinson, and a brother Andrew Robinson. Carrie was in many ways the rock of her family.
