Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine A. “Cathy” (Ketteler) Schneider, 66, Norfolk, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE. Reverend Mark Tomasiewicz will be the celebrant. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Petersburg.

Visitation will be Monday 4 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Vigil Service at the Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue. She passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at the Genoa Community Hospital in Genoa, NE. Catherine Ann was born in Norfolk to her parents LaVern and Germain (Seier) Ketteler.

She grew up on a farm outside of Petersburg, NE and attended St. John the Baptist Catholic grade school. She graduated from Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin, NE, attended the Omaha School of Commerce, and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wayne State College. Cathy married Kenneth “Ken” Schneider on March 3, 1973 at St. John the Baptist Church in Petersburg.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite hobbies were quilting, traveling, and camping with her family. She was a member of the Flying Geese Quilters and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk.

Before retirement, Cathy was the Fiscal Officer for the Northeast Nebraska Area Agency on Aging. Her professional career also included managing the Madison Senior Center and she participated in the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce Women’s group. She also volunteered her time for many years to the United Way.

Survivors include her husband Kenneth “Ken” Schneider of 45 years; children Verna (Matt) McCain, and Carl (Anonda) Schneider; grandchildren Allie, Addison, Abilyn, and Colter Schneider, and Claire McCain; brother Roy Ketteler, sisters Sr. Marilyn Ketteler and Barb Barr, brother-in-law Rick (Elaine) Bode, sisters-in-law Doris White and Mary Lee (Peterson) Alford. She is preceded in death by her parents, Germain and LaVern Ketteler; Ken’s parents Melvin Schneider and Alice (Jones-Schneider) Peterson; Ken’s step-father Ralph Peterson; Ken’s siblings Thomas Schneider, Wesley (Ellen) Schneider, Melvin (Paula) Schneider, and Carol Thompson. Cathy and Ken were longtime supporters of Norfolk Archery Club.
