Catherine Annette Brinkley Hancock, age 79, of Edgewater, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Smyrna Beach. Born in Screven, Georgia to Eulis and Hilda Lorraine Green Brinkley, Cathy came to this area in 1991 from Alaska. Cathy was a graduate of The University of West Florida with a Master of Arts Degree.

She was a certified teacher in Alabama, Florida, and California. Cathy was an accomplished artist, gardener, needle-crafter, camper, chef, and loved to entertain as a clown, and puppeteer. She also enjoyed pottery and quilting.

Cathy donated over 40 quilts to a local nursing home. She was an excellent Bible teacher and Church Youth Group Director. Cathy also enjoyed Sign-Language and salmon fishing in Alaska.

She was a devoted wife of a Church Minister/Military Chaplain. Cathy was the mother of two children and grandmother of six. Her travels took her to almost all the United States including Alaska and Hawaii, and to other countries including Korea, Germany, Austria, France, Luxembury, Holland, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and Mexico.

She was devoted to reading the Bible daily and listening to religious music. Cathy resided in many places over the years including South Carolina, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, Texas, California, Alaska, Nebraska, and Germany. She enjoyed a long and happy marriage just shy of 60 years.

Her slogan for a good marriage: “Always Together, Friends Forever! ” Her favorite song was “Here Comes Jesus, Always On Time! ” Cathy always wanted to be a missionary for Jesus and accomplished that goal far beyond the confines of organized religion.

One major disappointment in life was two individuals she loved very much who refused to acknowledge her request to speak with them during her final days of suffering from brain cancer. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26th at Settle-Wilder’s chapel, with Chaplain Jimmie L. Hancock, officiating. Interment will follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims.

Friends will be received on Thursday, April 26th from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
