Catherine Cathie Eddy Deforge, May 19, 1956 — October 17, 2018

Obituary for Catherine “Cathie” Eddy (Deforge) Catherine DeForge Eddy, 62, daughter of the former Leopold DeForge and Leona (Granger) DeForge of Winooski, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2018, at UVM Medical Center surrounded by family who adored her, and holding the hands of her two children. Cathie attended Saint Francis Xavier and graduated in 1974 from Rice Memorial High School. In 1987, she married Gerald Eddy, whom she loved to no end, and stood alongside for the next 31 years.

Cathie worked many years at Wiemann-Lamphere Architects before taking on the role as guidance secretary and registrar at Winooski School District, where she made many friends and built lasting, treasured relationships with students over the years. Cathie had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She loved to socialize and reminisce about the ‘good ’ol days’ of Winooski, watch reruns of old TV shows, snuggle with her fur babies, and was always appreciative of opportunities to be with her family.

She will be extremely missed by her daughter Stephanie and wife, Elizabeth of South Burlington, VT; son Stephen and fiancee Megan of Winooski, VT; granddaughter, Emmalynn of Winooski, VT; sister-in-law Kim of Colchester, VT; beloved senior companion Gail of Colchester, VT; and several cousins. Cathie was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, just 8 months earlier. A memorial service will be held at LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Winooski on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 1:00 p.m., with a celebration of life immediately to follow.

A burial service will take place in Cambridge, NY at a later date where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
