Victor – Catherine Pat Wieferich Allen, passed away on July 3, 2018, at Marcus Daly Hospital. She was born April 17, 1925 in Townsend Montana. Her parents were Frank and Kate Wieferich, who had come originally from Iowa and settled on a ranch in the Canton valley.

Pat was the fifth of fourteen children. She received her early education at the Canton Valley country school and later attended the Broadwater County High School, in Townsend. All of the family worked very hard during the depression, and Pat did her share, milking cows, haying, cooking, and cleaning.

She had however, many happy memories of her childhood, living with a big family. They all went to dances and holiday gathering with aunts, uncles, and cousins. Pat married Robert T. Allen, in Butte, October 31, 1942, During World War II.

A son Robert was born Dec. 13, 1943. Pat worked in different jobs around Townsend, while she waited for the war to be over.

Robert had joined the Marines and did not return until November of 1945. When Robert came home they stayed on the ranch for a short time, but soon moved to Ringling to work on a ranch for Claude Kiff. Their second son, Wayne, was born in Townsend on April 14, 1949.

The family then moved to Victor, where they eventually bought the ranch on Meridian Rd. Gerald was born on January 24, 1956, closely followed by brother, Richard on July 1, 1957. During this time Robert worked with the Forest Service as Fire Control Officer, until he retired in 1979.

Pat and Robert had been married 53 years when passed away in 1995. Pat continued to live in the family home, until shortly before her death. With her husband gone and the boys raised, Pat became a volunteer in the community.

She served for several years as president of the Victor Senior Center and spent many hours working for Saint Mary’s Church. She was president of the Alter Society. Pat was a compassionate, kind, and giving person.

She dedicated her life to her family and community. Her early years were hard as they were for many of her generation, but she worked hard and won the admiration and love of her family and many friends. She will be sorely missed for her easy laughter and kind wit.

She is survived by her four sons, Robert and wife Jane, Wayne and wife Ellen, Gerald and Richard and wife Brenda. She has 10 grandchildren Tawny, Tresa, Becky, Dena. Mark, Wendy, Paris, Jason, Matthew and Nathan.
