Cecil Gillis, 89, of Burnsville, went home to be with the Lord, Monday December 31, 2018. A native and lifelong resident of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Gay and Vaughtie Angel Gillis. He was also preceded in death by his brother Max Gillis and a sister Chloe Fields.

Cecil was a US Navy Veteran, and a 38 year employee of Glen Raven. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Juanita King Gillis. A sister Betty Stafford of Burnsville.

And two nephews: Phillip Stafford and wife Amelia of Crabtree and Greg Stafford of Elizabeth City. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday January 2, 2019 in the Chapel of Holcombe Brothers Funeral Home. Rev Stacey Elkins will officiate with burial in the King Cemetery on Elk Shoal Creek.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. .
